Falafel

Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, these homemade falafel are a burst of spices and fresh herbs. Perfect with sauces or tucked inside pita bread.

Ingredients

  • 250 g dried chickpeas
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 onion
  • 15 g cilantro
  • 20 g parsley
  • 6 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Soak the chickpeas in water for at least 12 hours.
  • Peel the onion and garlic. Cut the onion into quarters and blend together with the chickpeas. Add cilantro, parsley, olive oil, cumin, and salt, blending into a smooth mixture.
  • Transfer the mixture to a bowl, press it down firmly, cover with cling film, and refrigerate for about 1 hour.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 190°C.
  • Scoop portions with a tablespoon, form into flattened balls, and place them in the basket. Cook for about 20 minutes at 190°C, flipping halfway through.
