A traditional sponge cake — fluffy, pretty and with that cocoa swirl that always wins you over. Perfect for an afternoon snack or to enjoy with a cup of hot chocolate when the cold arrives.

Ingredients

  • 200 g butter
  • 200 g sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 250 g flour
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons pure cocoa powder
  • A splash of milk
  • Lemon zest (optional)

Instructions

  • Beat the butter and sugar with the Downmix until creamy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time.
  • Incorporate the sifted flour and baking powder.
  • Separate one third of the batter and mix it with the cocoa and a splash of milk.
  • Pour the white batter into a mould and add the cocoa batter, creating swirls.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes at 180°C.
